8 days left before going to nepal!

my passport is back, my backpack is ready, steady, go!

8 days to finish my work here in france, to do all the french paperwork, to go back home to visit my parents and friends, 8 days to finish the to-do-list, that takes nevertheless one paper-sheet…

travelmap – check
visa – check
ideas where to go – check
addresses of locals and friends – check

so the most important things I already have, the rest is improvisation, as usual. that’s me.

as usual I try to find some internet, as I’m alone again maybe some more updates than from morokko. I don’t promise anything! :)

So here I go…
bye

Morning Surprise

My room mate just left in the morning (saturday) for fetching some fresh, crispy baguette around the corner, and came back with a letter AND a postcard for me! What a surprise!

And in this letter, as suspected, was my passport, in which there is a sticker with my Visa for Nepal. Apparently the french consul had troubles getting along with my austrian passport, as he stuck the permission onto the 5th page: “Reserved for authorities”, whilst he ignored the place “Visa” for all kind of … Visa. :) Nevermind, I will go to Nepal!

So, until now:

X … Ticket
X … Visa for Nepal
O … Visa for India

Whatelse to tell?
I’m still learning nepali, and can follow stupid dialogues, such as:
A: Please go to the blackboard. Whad did you do?
B: I went to the blackbord.
A: Didn’t you go to the window?
B: No, I didn’t go to the window.
A: Did she go to the blackbord?
C: Yes, she went to the blackbord.
and so on.
ok, I admit, that’s how they teach the grammar. Still need to find the words needed for a (hiking/backpacking) trip. But who knows? Maybe I’m finishing up in teaching english like I did in China, and in this case the word blackbord in nepali might be useful. btw: blackbord in nepali is blyakboD (where D is a retroflex d).

And well, yes, my last ski tour I did in Savoie, showed that I finally should learn to NOT carry my whole home on my back… I don’t know how I’m gonna do in Nepal, but it’s no possibility to carry around 25 kg on my back for a hiking trip…

Well, start preparation for Indian Visa next week.

So long

Namaste

Et voilà, 3 weeks after I returned from Morocco I decided to leave for Nepal, in april. after some misunderstandings and some reflexions about beeing teacher and monsoon in summer, i took the decesion to go there in any case. So finally I bought my Ticket – Nepal, here I come!

Two and a half month I will stroll around and explore Nepal all on my own, a bit by choice, a bit by accident and a bit by nonexistant of a possible travelmate. Don’t worry, I will get along, you know well! :)

So with today I’m in to the preparations. The urgent ToDo:

X Ticket
O Visa Nepal (should be easy, tomorrow I’ll send the application form to Paris Rouen (updt. did it today!)
O Visa India (guess here I have to negociate with the embassy ;) as I wanted to take train&bus to leave from Delhi to Kathmandu, I can’t exhibit a plane ticket indicating leaving and re-arrival in India, which usually is a condition to get a multiple entry visa to india.)

In a few weeks more Information…
So long,

koerndl

PS: and yes, you are right, I cheated with the picture of the header: It has been taken in China, tibetian area… but I prefer a picture I took than one of Internet…

pictures

well, found a comment today… sorry Christoph for making you wait so long time for publishing your comment…

I am, as usual, busy as hell, and therefore not often at my computer. nevertheless, in august, I published 28 pictures – did you see them?

I already sorted the pics (already long time ago) need some time to put them on the blog. but it’s cold outside, I adapted my room to winter yesterday, so maybe the chance to find them online soon is raising… maybe… lets see… ;)

Comeback recently…

Well, as announced, I had no desire to spend my days in looking for internet…. it was too much fun, too far away, too late every day to keep on going this blog. Sorry for that, for you. I enjoyed my holidays. :)

Finally, we left in three, Ksenia didn’t get a Visa, so Jonathan, Mathieu and I shared for four weeks an old Range Rover (the same age as us: 30 years! but we are not old :P ) to explore the most remoted aereas.

Now I’m back, filled with new experiences, nice meetings, impressive pictures (in my mind and onto my SD-Card), and I’m very happy to have made that trip. The next days I will be in conclave ;) to sort my pictures, and afterwards I will make a little weekary (no, not a diary…) or so, with stories and pictures. But not now. I still need to get back home, even if I’m already in my appartment…

Leaving soon…

Hi there,

so here I am again. again on tour.
it was 2004 when I was two days in Marocco. Well, not such a good experience, but optimistic as I am, I said to myself: “It was those two people, who fooled us! It’s not Marocco.” and the same day we left, I decided I want to come back, one day.

This “one day” is arriving within a week! We are nearly on our way!
“We”, this time it’s not my tent, my bike and me, but it’s Mathieu (the french I met on my trip to North Cape), Jonathan (friend of Mathieu, and mine as well) and Ksenia (russian friend of Mathieu), who I don’t know by now.

Mathieu lived in Marocco for 7 years, so I really wanted to leave with those two… Initially I didn’t want to leave for holidays at all, I wanted to stay in France, which for me Austrian is already a foreign contry to explore! But nope, my plans changed, as usual, and after they proposed my to accompany them to Marocco I didn’t want to miss that chance and now I’m very happy and exited to leave.

For me, the depart is already saturday afternoon, so a little less then 40 hours (within two nights!), preparations, as usual not very advanced. But yes, I’m used to travel, I’m used to pack my things, I’m used to improvise. If time permits, I even scheduled a climbing session tomorrow afternoon… Well, I’m not convinced, but I’m sure to not forget anything for the trip.

As usual I don’t know how, where, and how often we gonna stop for Internet, so I don’t know wherefrom and how often I’m gonna update this blog. Maybe (who knows) I’m not interested at all to keep going on this blog, because we are having so much fun on our owns. The most Angi-y words ever also here to apply: Let’s see…

So, I’ll have a good night right now… it’s late, as usual…
